Edith Kanaka’ole Foundation
Founded in the summer of 1990, the Edith Kanaka’ole Foundation (EKF) is a cultural-based organization established by the offspring of the late Luka and Edith Kanaka’ole. Founded on the vibrant traditions and rich cultural heritage of the Kanaka’ole family, it is the Foundation’s mission to heighten indigenous Hawaiian cultural awareness and participation through its educational programs and scholarships. EKF focuses on maintaining and perpetuating the teachings, beliefs, practices, philosophies and traditions of Edith and Luka Kanaka’ole.

is a nonprofit organization and coalition of grassroots groups, farmers activists and community from five islands working to educate the public about the risks posed by genetically engineered organisms and to promote diverse, local, healthy and ecological food and farming. Our island groups include GMO-Free Kaua’i, GMO-Free O’ahu and GMO-Free Maui.
We support sustainable agriculture and GMO labeling legislation, create educational and awareness-raising initiatives such as our book Facing Hawaiʻi’s Future and local seed exchanges, and help to create a robust network of information-sharing and action across Hawaiʻi around this issue.

Waves for Water
The mission is simple: To get clean water to every single person who needs it.
People living in impoverished areas die every day from drinking dirty water. While having access to clean water is a luxury that many of us take for granted, there are millions living in nations with no filtration systems in place. Kids drink from the same streams where animals bathe. In addition, there’s no clean water available for surgery if someone is injured, putting the wounded at risk of deathly infections.
The goal is to take existing solutions in the form of portable water filters into countries that need them. There are different options in deciding which filters would be best for each region, based on needs in various areas. Options range from ceramic filters that can be transported by one person, to larger filters that can provide clean water to an entire village.
